Estelle Iacona Estelle Iacona was elected President of Université Paris-Saclay by the members of the Board of Directors at a meeting on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. A university professor, Estelle Iacona has been vice-president of the Board of Directors since March 2020. She was acting president of the University since the appointment of Sylvie Retailleau as Minister of Higher Education and Research on May 20, 2022.
Estelle Iacona was elected in the first round, with 25 votes in favor and 8 blank votes out of 33 voting members, during the board of directors meeting of June 28, 2022, bringing together representatives of staff and users as well as outside personalities. Brigitte Gauthier, an Americanist and professor at the University of Evry, was also a candidate.
Estelle Iacona, is an engineer, graduated from Polytech Nantes and holds a PhD from École Centrale Paris, now CentraleSupélec. She did her post-doc, funded by the European Space Agency, in the United States at Johns Hopkins University, where she has just been elected member of the Society of Scholars.
Her research area is gas radiation and coupled transfers. Her main publications are in the fields of applied physics, heat and mass transfer, radiative properties of gases, porous media, and future energy challenges.
Estelle Iacona has been a university professor at CentraleSupélec since 2007, and has been deputy director and then director of the Molecular Energetics and Combustion laboratory (UPR CNRS). In 2012, she was appointed Vice President and Director of Research at CentraleSupélec before becoming Deputy Director General in charge of Training and Research from 2016 to 2018.
In 2019, she became an advisor to the CEO, in charge of setting up the Université Paris-Saclay. In May 2019, she joined the governance of the Comue as a project manager for the Presidency, in charge of transversal projects for the PIA. In March 2020, she was elected vice-president of the Board of Directors of the Université Paris-Saclay.
